For years now, NAD has been earning its reputation as the “fountain of youth” with countless anti-aging benefits. Harvard Medical School scientists such as David Sinclair have published papers on its ability to reverse vascular aging in mice, while biomedical companies such as ChromaDex and Elysium Health are heavily investing in the next generation of NAD supplements that boost “the essential coenzyme that your body can’t live without.” As we continue to learn about the uses and benefits of NAD, at VLS Pharmacy we are committed to providing quality, compounded NAD for IV therapy treatments.

WHAT IS NICOTINAMIDE ADENINE DINUCLEOTIDE (NAD)?
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a naturally-occurring and fundamental coenzyme that helps the body perform essential functions. Stemming from niacin/Vitamin B3, NAD plays a key role in a plethora of biochemical processes including DNA repair and helping cells release energy via their mitochondria. With age, NAD in the body slowly diminishes, which makes it harder to reverse mitochondrial malfunctions, DNA damage, shortening telomeres and other biochemical changes which compound age-related illnesses and decline.
WHAT ARE THE ANTI-AGING BENEFITS OF NAD?
Because of its essential role in energy metabolism and DNA repair, NAD has not been nicknamed the ‘longevity enzyme’ for nothing. NAD has been used to support: Mental clarity Muscle function and improved athletic performance Cellular regeneration Enhanced mood and energy levels
CAN NAD BE USED IN ADDICTION THERAPY?
NAD has been used in addiction therapy (particularly for those undergoing opiate withdrawal) as it is seen to minimize anxiety and cravings, restore key nutrients and help with neurotransmitter imbalance.
