FDA Advisory Committee to Review the Future of Several Peptides
If peptide therapy is part of your practice or if your patients have been asking about it, July is an important month to watch. On July 23rd–24th, the FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee will review several peptide substances being considered for inclusion on the 503A Bulks List, including:
- BPC-157
- KPV
- TB-500
- MOTS-c
- (along with Semax, Epitalon, and Emideltide on the second day)
The committee’s recommendations are non-binding, but they represent an important milestone in determining the future of these commonly discussed peptides within the compounding industry.
Why it matters: Providers who prescribe peptide therapies or are interested in them should pay close attention to these discussions. While this meeting will not make these peptides FDA-approved medications, it may influence future compounding opportunities and regulatory guidance.
