This year, New Drug Loft and VLS Pharmacy took part in the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) 2017 conference in Orlando, Florida. It was 3 full days of networking and learning from some of the best in the industry including AMP Medical Products – an amazing medical skincare brand that supports private label services.
With over 2,000 physicians in attendance and hundreds of exhibitors, here were some of our biggest takeaways on 2017 trends:
Microneedling Is ‘In’
It’s a treatment that’s been around for years but today microneedling could not be more popular in aesthetic dermatology. The main application is for facial rejuvenation (collagen induction, minimizing pigmentation, lines and boosting skin tone) but we were also interested to see it being applied to the scalp in conjunction with platelet rich plasma (PRP) treatment for hair regrowth.
The Compounding Opportunity
With the number of cost-conscious patients rising, dermatologists are exploring compounding as an attractive option for custom prescriptions and innovative modalities to complement their in-office procedures. The most popular opportunities are custom peels, prescription-strength minoxidil for hair regrowth and topical anesthetics.
Hyaluronic Acid
The cult-moisturizing ingredient is more popular than ever with topical product launches by skincare heavyweights such as SkinCeuticals (Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier) and SkinMedica (HA5 Rejuvenating Hydrator). On-trend, AMP also produces a topical hyaluronic acid product that can be private labeled – a great option for driving up residual sales in the practice environment.

Topical Anesthetics
Many practices require custom topical anesthetics that are formulated from scratch. We partnered with AMP Medical Products to produce topical anesthetics for their clients in return for their expert private labeling support. All of our topical anesthetics are cosmetically elegant and fast-acting which formulas that include LT, BLT, BLT plus epinephrine and a layered BLT base for microneeding and radiofrequency treatments.

A special thank you to AMP Medical Products for having us join you at this year’s AAD. We look forward to future partnerships and support!
